Title: "Reconnoitering the Rim"
Medium: Acrylic on canvas.
Dimensions: 24" high, 36" wide, ¾" deep. The sides are painted burnt umber (dark brown).
Named for an episode of "Deadwood" because I love that phrase, and I love that series. But I was actually thinking about ancient people who followed the pacific rim kelp forests in their boats. I was following the flow of paint, taking from it and giving to it and thoughts of those people kept me company as I herded the paint around the canvas.
I tried some new techniques that involve cracking the paint on the surface and allowing the color beneath to show, even while wet. The results are pretty cool.
